The rule
A date is not a guess.
A season becomes complete only from a source-verifiable participant denominator. Missing, cancelled, pre-founding, and protected seasons retain distinct statuses. A league founded later is not marked missing until its predecessor relationship has been researched.

The easiest archives do not define the scope. Protected, fragmented, and renamed systems stay on the board until their evidence is resolved.
North American pro
AHL now reaches 2004–05. The ECHL participant archive reaches 1989–90; scanned counting stats remain in field review.
Development systems
QMJHL reaches 1989–90; OHL, WHL, NCAA, and USHL now extend to their verified public boundaries.
European systems
Top, second-tier, and elite-junior archives are live while protected and predecessor sources stay on the access ledger.

The ECHL reached the target.
The AHL adds its complete 2004–05 official index. The ECHL now has official participant cohorts from 1989–90 onward; 1989–92 was recovered from scanned final-statistics books and publishes participation without unverified counting stats.
